Chris Horton, Tour Coordinator and U19 Boys Basketball Coach

Chris Horton is in his fourth season as an assistant men's basketball coach/director of personnel and development at Willamette University (OR). Horton previously was an assistant basketball coach at Dean College (MA). Horton has also coached at American Heritage Schools (FL) and with Taylored Athletes, Inc. (FL) and the United States Specialty Sports Association. He was the general manager of the Texas Sky Riders, a professional basketball team in the American Basketball Association. Horton received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management degree from the University of Florida with a minor in Entrepreneurship in December of 2012.

Reggie Hines, U17 Boys Basketball Coach

Reggie has previously coached with SaWUSA in the Argentina Experience (2022). He is the Women’s Basketball Coach at Guilford Technical Community College in North Carolina. He previously coached at Greensboro College and Guilford College. He graduated in 1994 from Elizabeth City State University.

Frank Rogers, Womens Lacrosse Coach

Frank Rogers has previously coached with SaWUSA in the Berlin Open (2017) and the Lisbon Lacrosse Cup in Portugal and Spain (2019 and 2022). He is the head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Warner University (FL). Rogers has been involved with lacrosse for more than 45 years and has an extensive background in the sport. He has coached at St. Ambrose University (IA), University of Montevallo (AL), Brevard College (NC) and Aquinas College (MI). Rogers also spent nine years as a high school boys lacrosse coach in Michigan and New York and also coached the men’s and women’s club teams at Western Michigan University. A native of central New York, Rogers has worked camps for Notre Dame, Northwestern, Virginia, Louisville and Vanderbilt, while also running his own camps.

Mike Spinner, Tour Coordinator

Mike joined the SaWUSA staff in 2022. He helps our athletes through the application process and conducts the video interviews with each athlete to select the athletes for our teams. He also travels on our tours, managing coaches and overseeing trip logistics. Mike came to SaWUSA after a long and successful career as an Athletic Director and Coach at eight Universities; Westchester CC (NY), Pace University (NY), Albertus Magnus College (CT), Notre Dame of Maryland University (MD), Yeshiva University (NY), College of Mount Saint Vincent (NY), Manhattanville College (NY), and Salisbury University (MD). He holds a M.Ed in Sports Management from SUNY-Cortland (NY) and resides in New Haven, CT.

Don Mulhern, U19 West Boys Basketball Coach

Mulhern is the head womens basketball coach at St. Catherine University (MN). He joined the program in 2016-17 following an extremely successful 11-year stint as the head women's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) where he was the most victorious in the program history. He was a two-time WIAC Coach-of-the-Year and was named the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III Coach of the Year and led his team to its second straight appearance in the WIAC Playoff title game. Mulhern also found success in his other coaching positions, as he turned both MacMurray College and Lindenwood College into successful basketball programs. At both places, he earned Coach of the Year honors and improved the team's overall and conference records by the end of his tenure. Multiple student-athletes earned either All-Conference or All-America accolades as well. Mulhern, a Wykoff, Minnesota native, graduated from Winona State University with a bachelor of science in physical education and business administration. He received his Master's in Physical Education-Human Performance from UW-La Crosse and received his Ph. D. in kinesiology and sport psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2000.

Quin Rice, U19 East Boys Basketball Coach

Quin is the assistant men's basketball coach at Rochester University (MI). He also serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator, head reserve team coach and is the head men’s and women’s golf coach. He has previously coached at Central Michigan University (MI) and Ferris State University (MI). Quin graduated with a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Central Michigan in 2019.

Marvin Johnson, U16 West Boys Basketball Coach

Marvin Johnson is a graduate assistant coach at Midwestern State University (TX). Previously, he has coached at Nova Southeastern's University School (FL), the United State Basketball Academy in Chengdu, China, the American Heritage School (FL), and Florida International University (FL). Johnson played at the State College of Florida (FL). He has a Masters in Business Administration degree from Midwestern State.

Sam Swinford, Tour Coordinator and Mens Basketball Coach

Sam has previously coached with SaWUSA in the Costa Rica Adventure (2022). He also competed for SAWUSA as an athlete in the United World Games Tour in 2018. He is the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Southeastern Illinois College. He played at SIC and Fontbonne University in St. Louis, where he studied Sports Business Management. After his playing career, Sam transitioned to coaching and helped lead the SI Select to back-to-back AAU International Titles in 2018 and 2019. As the program’s co-director, he has helped more than 30 players earn scholarships to play at the next level at the NCAA, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) levels. He has also served as a lead basketball instructor at the Belleville SportsPlex and Hub Recreation Center in Marion, where he has helped train high school, collegiate, and professional players and lead camps alongside some of the nation’s most respected coaches. He also is the founder and director of AthElite Sports Management, which has quickly grown a reputation as one of the top hosts of basketball tournaments in the Midwest.

Lorie Khalil, Tour Coordinator and Womens Basketball Coach

Lorie has previously coached with SaWUSA in the Argentina Experience (2022) and Portugal (2021). She is in her 7th season at the helm of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Women’s Basketball program and 16th overall as a collegiate head coach. Khalil lead the Lions to the 2019 PSUAC Championship, the first in program history. The team finished with a 25-3 overall record, the best in school history, a perfect 17-0 PSUAC record, the best in school history and an incredible 24 straight wins, the best in school & PSUAC history and a USCAA Final Four finish. Khalil was named PSUAC Coach of the Year for 2nd time in 3 years. Prior to coming to Penn State Lehigh Valley. Lorie Khalil was the head women’s basketball coach at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pa. Khalil has been coaching at various basketball camps for the past 16 years, including the University of Connecticut, University of Maryland, Villanova University, WNBA New York Liberty camp as well as running her own girls’ basketball camp in northwest New Jersey. Khalil has been featured in the Garden State Women’s Magazine and has also filmed in the 2011 women’s basketball inspirational movie “The Mighty Macs”. Khalil is a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and serves as the Coordinator of Athletic Programs at Penn State Lehigh Valley and also serves on the USCAA Women’s Division II Basketball Coaches Poll Committee.

Ray Edwards, Mens Basketball Coach

Ray has previously coached with SaWUSA in the Argentina Experience (2022). He is the Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball program at Penn State – Lehigh Valley. A native of Syracuse NY, Edwards began his coaching career as assistant JV coach at local Freedom HS in Bethlehem, PA. In 2016, Edwards was hired as an assistant coach and later named Associate Head of the men’s basketball program at Northampton Community College. In 3 seasons, Edwards helped coach the NACC program to two EPAC conference titles and three Top 15 nationally ranked seasons.
