ATHLETE SELECTION PROCESS
STEP 1 - Log In
Make sure you use an e-mail address that you have access to and check often as important info will be sent to it. You also can use this e-mail address to reset your password.
STEP 2 - Build Your Profile
This is where you will enter info about yourself that our staff will use to evaluate you. You don't need to go overboard, but make sure to be thorough. Include your stats and honors and awards, but also make sure to tell us why you want to Represent the USA and your passion for International Travel. These aspects are very important to us when we select our teams
STEP 3 - Letters of Recommendation
In this step you will ask teachers, coaches, ministers, local leaders, etc. to write a letters of recommendation for you. You need at least one but can enter up to 3. What we are looking for here is to make sure the athletes we choose are good kids, good leaders, and have high character. These character references are an important part of your selection, so make sure to thank them for helping you along!
STEP 4 - Video
In this step you will upload video of your athletic skills. The easiest way to do this is if you have a "highlight video" of your athletic skills on some other website just enter in the URL (www.yadayada.com). You don't need to send too much here. We just want to evaluate your skills to make sure you are a good fit for our teams. If you don't have a highlight video, just go outside and take some footage of you working out in your sport with your phone's camera and upload it to YouTube and then put that YouTube link in. It doesn't need to be fancy or professionally done, but we will need some type of video to evaluate you and consider you for a team.
STEP 5 - Video Interview
Ok, you've almost made it to the end. The next step is to schedule a video interview with our staff. You will use the website to select the time. During the interview, be yourself. Show your personality and ask lots of questions. We are looking for kids that will be great leaders and ambassadors of the USA. Of course during this interview you can ask questions as well, so be prepared with questions!
STEPS 6-9
If you made it this far... you have received your official invitation to Represent the USA with SAWUSA. This is a great honor. The website will walk you through the contract, the waiver, the code of conduct, the registration process, and the uploading of travel information like passports. It's all on the website, so just make sure to read along as you go.
