How to
Raise Money
With effort and a personal touch many athletes find it relatively easy to cover 100% of the cost of the trip. There are many ways to raise money for this trip and we have outlined some of them below. The most effective approach will be a personal and direct approach. Ask friends, family, businesses, community leaders, and anyone else you can think of that would be willing to support you in raising funds. The more people you ask the better your results will be. Simply hand deliver them this DONATION REQUEST FORM and attach a copy of your trip’s sample itinerary so that your supporters understand everything that you are going to be doing. The key is to be very personal in your approach. Taking the extra step to ask personally will make a huge difference.

Start an On-line

Other Ideas
- Talk to your teachers, coaches, and school officials. They may have some ideas for team fundraisers and might be willing to help you.
- You can also try to run a local sports camp. Ask your Athletic Director or Coach at your school if you can rent the sports facility to run a small camp. Advertise locally and talk to as many local schools as you can. Charge the kids $50 for a 2-3 hour camp. You can teach kids basic fundamentals. Young kids will jump at the opportunity to work with high school and college athletes. You can also also ask local businesses to sponsor your camp.
- Other ideas include: Car Wash, Bake Sale, Golf Tournaments, 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, Spaghetti Dinner, and Auctions.
NOTE – It is each athlete’s responsibility to make sure they stay within the NCAA guidelines for their fundraising. SAWUSA is not responsible for illegal fundraising efforts. In compliance with NCAA rules, we cannot collect money on your behalf or contribute to your fundraising efforts. SAWUSA does not have tax exempt status and cannot provide a tax exempt form for you to use.
