Joining a Tour
Congratulations, you’ve been accepted for a SAWUSA and you are one step away from officially joining a tour and doing ‘the coolest thing you’ve ever done’. What If Something Happens?
Every year it’s a new ‘something’. We’ve seen it all. If something specific worries you, we encourage you to look into purchasing travel insurance. We have a partnership with TravelSafe. After you deposit we will send you a preferred link to purchase this insurance (should you choose to). They offer travel insurance that includes a ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ coverage. As the policy states, you can get refunded for ANY reason, including personal hesitancy to travel, etc. You are free to shop for any type of Travel Insurance you can find – just make sure they have ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ coverage if that is what you desire.
Refund Policy
If SAWUSA has to postpone or cancel a trip for any reason, you will not lose your investment. We’ve only had to postpone a tour one time – the Summer of 2020. If something like that happened again the most likely scenario is a one year postponement.
In the event YOU want to cancel your spot on a trip for any reason, you can receive a refund minus a $390 processing fee up through January 1. After January 1 there are no refunds. We offer travel insurance to protect you from anything that would prevent you from traveling. SAWUSA is in a unique business. We plan and prepare these unique experiences over a year in advance. You can read more about our Refund Policy here. Information about purchasing travel insurance will be made available to you after we process your down payment. You will find it on the OTHER RESOURCES tab of your application website. We have some insurance options for you but you are free to get any type of insurance you desire.
Payment Policies
Once you pay your deposit you are going to get an itemized invoice via e-mail. It will explain all the payment details. The payment deadlines are as follows: 50% of the total amount due is due Feb 1, 75% by March 1, and 100% by April 1. You can choose to pay however you would like and in any amount as long as you hit those deadlines. Make sure to check out our FUNDRAISING page for more details on how to raise money.
What is the Deadline to Pay the Deposit?
There is not a specific deadline date. However, our trips have limited spots and fill very quickly. We have a limited number of athletes and teams we can take on each tour. So, make sure to get the deposit in ASAP!
